The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) offers programs in orthopedic and trauma medicine at both certificate and diploma levels.
The certificate program takes two years, while the diploma program has two options: a pre-service diploma, which takes three years, and an upgrading diploma, which takes two years.
The certificate program is offered at selected KMTC campuses, while the diploma program is available at various campuses, including Nairobi and Nakuru. The curriculum includes basic sciences, technical modules, and practical training at hospitals, including referral and county hospitals.
Admission Requirements
For the certificate program, applicants need a mean grade of C- in KCSE, with C- in English or Kiswahili, and D+ in Biology/Biological Sciences and any one of Mathematics, Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Woodwork, Metal work, Technical Drawing, Home Science, Agriculture.
For the diploma program, the pre-service diploma requires a mean grade of C, with C in English or Kiswahili, C in Biology/Biological Sciences, and Mathematics or Physics/Physical Sciences, while the upgrading diploma requires a mean grade of C-, with C- in English or Kiswahili, and D+ in Biology/Biological Sciences and any one of Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Home Science, Agriculture.
