Exam Overview
The 2024 KCSE exams were conducted between October 22 and November 22 across 10,755 centres nationwide. A record number of students participated this year, showing an increase from the previous year’s figures.
Before releasing the results, CS Ogamba presented them to President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi. President Ruto lauded the education system’s improvements, attributing them to enriched curriculums, increased teacher recruitment, and enhanced learning facilities.
Measures Against Cheating
To ensure exam integrity, KNEC implemented strict measures, including:
- Personalized exam papers featuring candidates’ details like names, index numbers, and schools.
- Establishment of special courts to handle exam malpractice cases.
Despite these efforts, the exams faced allegations of irregularities, including cheating, the distribution of fake materials, and instances of teachers aiding malpractice. Additionally, concerns about low remuneration for invigilators, managers, and markers surfaced.
