Start by visiting the official KNEC website, where detailed guidelines are available. Download and diligently fill out the required forms, ensuring all necessary information is accurately provided.

During school closures, it’s crucial to reach out to the KNEC offices for guidance on the submission process, as alternative arrangements may be in place.

Apply for a Replacement Certificate

Acquire Necessary Documents: If your school closed down, acquire a letter from the Provincial Director of Education or District Education Officer.

Fill the Replacement Form: Fill the KNEC certificate replacement form.

Pay the Processing Fee: Pay the processing fee, which is KES 5220, through M-Pesa.

Submit the Application: Submit the filled form and necessary documents to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) through their Query Management Information System (QMIS).

Wait for Processing: After submitting the application, wait for the processing to be completed, which usually takes about 15 working days.

Collect the Certificate: Once the certificate is availed for collection, visit the KNEC office with your valid identification document or passport to collect it.

It’s important to note that the replacement for a lost KCSE certificate is issued only once.

The process may also require a letter of recommendation from the headteacher of the school attended, a sworn affidavit on the identity of the applicant, a letter of recommendation from the employer to KNEC, and a police abstract indicating the loss of the certificate
