KMTC Afya Elimu HELB was established in 2013 and officially launched in 2016. Afya Elimu HELB Loans was set up as a public-private partnership fund for helping needy medical students in their studies. This loan has given many needy KMTC students the opportunity to pursue their studies and achieve their dreams.
Afya Elimu HELB was structured as a revolving fund that offers student loans with a 4% interest. KMTC students are mostly offered loans to be repaid after they are employed by deductions from their salaries. However, if one year after completion of studies goes by without securing employment, the student is expected to begin repaying the afya Elimu loan.
The Afya Elimu loans were introduced because some Medical students across the country were experiencing difficult times affording their studies in colleges. For instance, some could successfully be admitted to their respective colleges, only to face daily lifestyle affordability challenges as the semester picks on. During such cases, a comrade is expected to apply for the Afya Elimu loans for financial assistance as they chase their dreams.

Students from more vulnerable and poor backgrounds are considered and given a higher amount compared to students from fair and stable families. In case you have employed parents, the loan amount awarded to you shall be lower than a student with peasant or generally poor parents or guardians.
